Surgical dentures are constructed prior to the extraction of the existing natural teeth and inserted immediately after the extractions by the dentist or oral surgeon.

Immediate dentures allow you to adapt more quickly to wearing dentures and you also avoid the embarrassment of not having any teeth during the healing phase. Surgical dentures also assist in controlling the bleeding and swelling immediately after the surgery by acting as a splint.

The gums will continue to shrink during the healing period of approximately six months following extractions. Temporary liners are used to help maintain the fit of the denture during the healing phase.

When the gums have stabilized, the immediate denture will require a permanent reline to ensure a proper fit and also provide a final fitting surface that is easier to keep clean. In some instances when an excessive amount of tissue change has occured, the denture teeth will have to be reset to help restore the stablity and comfort of the denture.

We strive to meet or exceed the Infection Prevention and Controls Standards established by our College. In addition we only use nitrile gloves to avoid any issues with latex allergies and have two Quattro air purifiers in use to control the level of dust and organic vapors in the office.
