Partial dentures are designed for those clients with one or more teeth missing, but not fully edentulous. Partial dentures are typically more secure that full dentures, since they are physically held in place by clasps, precision attachments or implants and are designed to fit around the existing natural teeth. Flipper partials are usually an option for a missing single tooth and are intended for short-term use as an esthetic and space maintenance appliance and typical do not offer a good fit.
Partial dentures can be constructed using conventional acrylic with wire clasps, or a flexible material or with a metal framework. There are a number of factors that influence the type of partial design and materials that would be appropriate for an individual and these variables would be discussed with you by your Denturist.
